Digital Tachograph

Introduction in Central and Eastern European countries

This joint ERTICO-European Commission initiative helped ensure free movement of EU vehicles in Central and Eastern European countries by informing national administrations, law enforcement agencies as well as social partners about the digital tachograph.

Objectives

  • Made available Annex 1B of EC Regulation No 2135/98 which contains specifications of construction and functional requirements for the tachograph cards
  • Raised awareness of the tachograph through media campaigns and PR activities
  • Supported the introduction of the device (to be carried out with the EU and United Nations)

January 2000 - December 2002, funded through EC Directorate General for Energy and Transport

Consortium

ERTICO is sole contractor, however with strong participation from all Member States and suppliers.
