DIAMOND

Multimedia ITS applications through DAB
DIAMOND is establishing the technical and commercial feasibility of multimedia ITS services provided over digital radio (DAB) in combination with mobile communication technologies (GSM, GPRS, UMTS) and appropriate positioning technologies.
Objectives
- Demonstrate technical and commercial viability of multimedia ITS services using DAB
- Support market development and creation of business model for the car industry, equipment suppliers and service providers
- Apply a range of services for users at home, at work, or at leisure with access via devices such as terminals and kiosks
- Identify winning services and functionalities
- Produce a European standard for multimedia ITS services using DAB
- Establish and maintain DIAMOND Forum as a common platform on technical and commercial issues, standardisation issues, and regulatory and frequency aspects
- Launch demonstration sites and undertake dissemination activities including the publication of guidelines and guidebooks to facilitate use of the DIAMOND system
