Austria at the ITS World Congress

Under the umbrella of ITS Austria four Austrian companies – Asfinag, AustriaTech, ITS Vienna Region (which has launched recently the traffic information platform AnachB.at) and Smart Spectors – presented their innovations and products at a joint stand.

One milestone was the presentation of the first public test drives of the COOPERS project. COOPERS – managed by AustriaTech – demonstrated to visitors the transmission of real-time and location-based information into a vehicle by using car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure-communication. Approximately 300 visitors test drove the COOPERS System through Stockholm.

One more – relatively new - project was In-Time – a project to develop an Intelligent and efficient travel management for European cities. The ITS World congress was the optimal frame to launch and present the Homepage of this two-year-project to the public.

Another new service, presented by the Austrian Road Operator, Asfinag, was TMC plus: Basically, any navigation device that is TMC-capable can also receive “TMCplus”. Navigation devices that have been tested by Hitradio Ö3 and ASFINAG are additionally awarded the “TMCplus” quality mark. Two other projects with Austrian partners, which have been presented at the congress, were EasyWay and E-Frame. 
 

From Stockholm to Vienna

The great success of this year´s conference creates high expectations to the following events. Therefore Austria is very proud to announce the 19th ITS World Conference 2012 in Vienna. From 17 to 21 September 2012 ITS World Congress and exhibition will take place in Vienna for the first time. AIT, ASFINAG, AVL, Kapsch TrafficCom, EFKON AG as well as the transport association Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) and its division ITS Vienna Region registered already as partners.

The World Congress in Vienna is going to be dedicated, amongst others, to topics like e-mobility, enhanced navigation by Galileo, and co-operative systems (car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication). Further topics are going to be the integration of different modes of transport, as well as the integration of the Eastern European Countries. The final day is going to be dedicated to the public and shall attract young people.

The motto is “Smarter on the way”. Following the headline of this year’s conference – “ITS in daily life” – we would like to underline the benefit for the single traveller. We would like to show in the sessions as well as in the technical demonstrations how the different user groups can save time and money with these services. In addition to outdoor demos, in the exhibition area you will be able to test the recent developments in 2012 already on secured sections in life traffic in Vienna. Indeed it is the goal to push the implementation of the systems in real life. We want to demonstrate the state-of-the-art and what efforts have been taken to integrate trend-setting technologies into daily routine. Vienna awaits you.
