Partner News: TNO brings connected traveller concept to life

Date: 26 February 2009

ERTICO Partner TNO is working on the 'connected traveller' concept. TNO’s work is focusing on 'use cases, traveller & supplier requirements' in the i-Travel project in order to identify:
• User (travel) scenarios describing how travellers will use the i-Travel services before, during and after travel,
• Use cases describing in detail how travellers and suppliers make use of the i-Travel services
• User (travellers and suppliers) requirements of an i-Travel solution.

The preliminary work showed that travellers have different needs for information depending on the frequency of trips, the purpose of the trip, the trip character (regular or special trip), the availability of transport modes, the particular socio-demography, etc. Based on detailed user cases, desk research, workshops and field research, a total of eight requirements have been identified: functionality, accessibility, user interface, context awareness, personalisation, financial aspects, reliability and secure environment. The user requirements of traveller and suppliers are based on the clustering of the user needs and detailed user cases.
