The first FREILOT workshop, open to external stakeholders was jointly organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe, POLIS and Ville de Lyon, on 17-18 June, 2009 in Lyon, France.
The event was an opportunity for cities and fleet operators to come together and discuss their common needs, and learn about the FREILOT pilot and how they could benefit from it, potentially even by joining the consortium. Pilot external service providers, who can provide services to respond to the needs of cities and fleet operators, were also invited to take part in the debate.
The discussions focused on various service specifications, evaluation methodology to be used, and business models to be developed in order to achieve a successful implementation of the project services to be piloted in four European cities (Helmond, Lyon, Bilbao and Krakow).
Participants to the meeting also analysed various ways to evaluate the effectiveness of the services in bringing down energy consumption, resolve remaining non-technical barriers and promote the services to the primary stakeholders (cities and fleet operators).
FREILOT pilot is a deployment oriented activity, with the aim to provide close-to-market services that will increase energy efficiency in goods transport in European urban areas. The four services to be piloted are: energy optimised intersection control, eco-driving support, adaptive acceleration and speed limiters on trucks and delivery space booking.
Workshop presentations will be soon available on the FREILOT website. For more information please contact FREILOT coordinator Zeljko Jeftic, z.jeftic@mail.ertico.com
