2nd Workshop with Emergency Call Service Providers
Date: 02 April 2007
Service providers agree on the need for common interfaces.
The 2nd Workshop with Emergency Call Service Providers took place Thursday, 22 February in Brussels, Belgium. The objective of the meeting was to define a common eCall PSAP/SP interface.
Service providers may offer additional added-value services to the basic eCall service (i.e. towing services, insurance, etc.). The PSAPs may benefit by getting from service provider additional information or support for them (i.e., medical data, identification of the occupants, translation services, etc.).
The identification of the Service Provider will be included in the eCall Minimum Set of Data, but it is also necessary that the PSAP can interact with the Service Providers through a common harmonised interface in Europe.
The morning session of the Brussels meeting consisted of a general discussion on the necessity and the best way to harmonise a PSAP/SP interface able to interact with the PSAP IT infrastructure. The afternoon session’s discussion focused on high level requirements of this common interface.
Outcomes of the event were:
- A more detailed definition of the service provider’s role in eCall deployment
- Decision to propose a common standardised interface PSAPs/Service Providers (including High Level Requirements by May 2007)
- An agreement on the need to increase awareness of different ways to deploy eCall in the Member States and at regional level
