CVIS Requirements Workshop 18-19 October 2006
Date: 28 September 2006
With the first phase of the EC-supported, ERTICO-coordinated CVIS project nearly complete, the project is organising a Requirements Workshop 18-19 October 2006 in Brussels to validate these interim results.
The first phase has worked to identify use cases, user needs and system requirements, thus this will be a unique opportunity for the future cooperative systems community – comprising users, road and communications network operators, vehicle and system manufacturers, public authorities and service providers – to ensure their needs are reflected in Europe’s largest R&D project for cooperative systems.
Participants’ feedback gathered at the workshop will help steer the direction of European development, and help define the standards needed to ensure full interoperability in the future amongst all makes of vehicles and all equipped roadside infrastructure.
The workshop programme will feature a presentation of the different CVIS use cases – how the future cooperative systems and services are intended to function and what effects they should produce. Delegates will be able to contribute their own detailed requirements during a set of parallel breakout sessions on specific CVIS topics.
Participation is open to members of any organisation with an interest in the supply and operation of future cooperative systems. Workshop places are limited, so book now to be sure of attending. Registration is via the link below.
About CVIS
The CVIS project, which started in February 2006, is developing a complete technical solution that will allow all road vehicles to communicate with any nearby roadside infrastructure. This will enable the collection of real-time traffic and environmental information across the entire road network. Taking advantage of the unprecedented quality of these data, a wide range of innovative applications and services for drivers, travellers and commercial transport will be possible once vehicles and infrastructure can “talk” together. Road safety and transport efficiency will improve, and there will be less environmental impact.
