ERTICO News: ERTICO – ITS Europe announces appointment of new CEO

Hermann Meyer, Head of the External Relations Office of the Volkswagen Group to the EU, to take over as Chief Executive Officer.
Monica Sundström, Chairman of the ERTICO – ITS Europe Supervisory Board, announced that on 5 December 2007 the Supervisory Board unanimously elected Hermann Meyer as the new ERTICO CEO. The Board decided that Mr Meyer should take up his responsibilities as soon as possible, preferably as of 1 January 2008.
Mr Meyer (44) is trained as an environmental economist and has substantial experience in academia, industrial research, political administration and consultancy.
Mr Meyer worked for the Volkswagen Group for over 12 years. Before, he lectured environmental economics at the University of Edinburgh and later worked in the German Ministry of Transport. After having worked in the research and later the external relations department for Volkswagen, he was seconded to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) in the year 2000 acting as Director of Environmental Policy. Since October 2006, he has been heading the External Relations Office of the Volkswagen Group to the EU in Brussels.
His native language is German and he also speaks fluent English and good French.
