ERTICO News: TISA gets on track!

The newly launched Traveller Information Services Association gathers in Berlin for its first General Assembly.

The TISA (Traveller Information Services Association) Inaugural General Assembly took place on 21 November 2007 at the impressive Deutsche Telekom, Hauptstadtrepräsentanz venue in Berlin, Germany.

A welcome speech was given by Timo von Lepel, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, T-Systems Media & Broadcast. A set of following presentations were given on the latest TMC and TPEG developments, on the mobile.info project, and on the preparation process for launching TISA.

Michel Rénéric of ERTICO Partner TDF was elected by the attendees of the General Assembly to be President of TISA. Axel Rudolph of T-Systems Media & Broadcast was announced as Treasurer, and the other Steering Board roles were also announced.

The day finished with a workshop session covering the handling of current activities and discussion of potential new activities. The session was held interactively, with questions and other input from the attendees.

Test and demonstration vehicles were made available for attendees to see the TPEG implementations of the mobile.info project.

The new Traveller Information Services Association (TISA) has been established as a not-for-profit company (ASBL under Belgian law) to ensure an international framework for market-driven, coordinated, proactive implementation of traffic and travel information services and products based on existing standards such as RDS-TMC and TPEG. It also works towards the development and deployment of future standards and services. TISA takes over all the activities undertaken by the TMC Forum, the TPEG Forum and the German Mobile.Info project.

The next TISA Committee Meetings will be held in January at the ERTICO offices in Brussels, Belgium.
