EU-India Conference on eSafety ends with call for proposals
Date: 08 February 2007

Project conference in India identifies concrete actions for EU-India cooperation.
The EC-supported, ERTICO-coordinated EU-India eSafety project met in New Delhi, India, 1-2 February for the 'Intelligent Future for Transport and Road Safety in India' conference to discuss cooperation in real-time traffic information and emergency response services, and to make recommendations for future cooperation.
André Vits, Head of Unit for the EC DG INFSO stated that “India and the EU have a common interest to explore synergies in developing reliable, safe and secure transport networks and linkages, which respond to the need of individuals and businesses. Efficient transport systems will increase competitiveness on both sides and enhance our attractiveness as investment locations.”
Highlights of the event included a showcase of European and Indian ITS technologies. Exhibitors from Europe included ERTICO Partners ITIS and LogicaCMG; as well as GEWI and Citilabs, and from Indian they included Pricol, Kritikal Solutions, AJS Scale and the Delhi College of Engineering.
Calling all ERTICO Partners! ERTICO has been asked to prepare a proposal for the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, within the areas of Electronic Toll Collection, Advanced Traffic Information Systems and Advanced Traffic Management Systems. The proposal should show what currently exists in Europe in these areas and what sort of pilot project could be carried out in India by European experts from industry and research.
ERTICO Partners and other European experts in public transport management are thus welcome to submit an expression of interest for a multimodal transport project in New Delhi which introduces ITS. Do not miss this terrific opportunity to advance ITS in India!
To get involved with any of these initiatives, please contact ERTICO India Project Coordinator Priti Prajapati or visit the EU-India website.
