General News: Changes on the Council of ITS United Kingdom
Date: 26 June 2008
ITS United Kingdom, the Intelligent Transport Association for the United Kingdom, held its AGM in May and elected new Officers to serve for 2008/09. While Professor Eric Sampson CBE, of Newcastle University, was re-elected as Chairman for a second year, several changes occurred in other positions on the ITS (UK) Council. Dr Alan Stevens of TRL stepped down after many years as Technical Director, and Rana Ilgaz of Transport for London was elected in his place. Silke Elvery, also of TfL, was elected to the position of Finance Director, which had been held on an interim basis by Penny Ford of Serco. Another new Director is Richard Harris of WSP Group, who takes over as International Director from Robert Cone of Traffic Wales, another long-serving Director. Remaining in posts previously held are Mervyn Cross of RedSpeed International, the Membership Director, and Mario Bozzo of IBI Group, Marketing Director. Mike Schofield of Atkins remains as Vice Chairman.
Eric says: “We are so fortunate to continue to have outstanding people volunteer as our Directors. I have much appreciated the commitment and wise counsel of the previous team and look forward to working with our new grouping. I am also delighted that we have developed our gender mix so that the Directors represent even more closely the travellers we aim to support with our activities”
