General News: ITS Belgium Congress 2007

24 October 2007, Brussels event on traffic technology and intelligent mobility solutions.

ITS Belgium, member of the ERTICO – ITS Europe-hosted Network of National ITS Associations, will hold an ITS Belgium Congress on 24 October 2007 at the Diamant Conference & Business Center in Brussels, Belgium.

To manage the growing demand for mobility on already saturated infrastructure in a sustainable way, more and more local, municipal and regional authorities as well as public transport operators and police rescue services are discovering the benefits of state-of-the-art traffic technology.

Existing practical solutions for many of today’s mobility challenges will be showcased at this hands-on congress by organisations that have successfully implemented such technologies. Avoiding unwanted heavy goods traffic in cities, SMS-based parking, emergency call (eCall) and integrated payment for public transport are just a few examples of the many presentations and demos that will be given at the congress.

The congress will include keynote speeches followed by breakout sessions dealing with the following topics:

• Urban and local authorities
• Police and emergency services
• Regional and federal authorities
• Public transport

Each session will highlight success stories and case studies to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences.

After the sessions, debates are foreseen amongst regional policy makers, public transport, urban policy makers and emergency services. Networking drinks will take place at the end of the day.
