General News: ITS China is launched

Initiated by Chinese Ministries of Science and Technology, Public Security, Communications, Railway and approved by the Chinese Central Government, China Intelligent Transportation System (ITS China) was officially established in Beijing on 14 May, 2008.
 
During the meeting, Mr. Gang Wan, Vice Chairman of CPPCC, Minister of Science and Technology, was elected as Honorable Chairman of ITS China. Mr. Zhongze Wu, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, was elected as the first Chairman of ITS China.
 
Mr. Gang Wan said in the meeting, “As the national department in charge of science and technology, Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to provide great support for the technical innovation and industrialization of ITS in China. MOST will support all kinds of work of ITS China solidly. ITS China will be the platform to integrate the resources in society. The long-term development in ITS will be achieved to meet the demand of national economical development through ITS China. ITS China is expected to play an irreplaceable and leading role in improving the safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability of national transportation system.”
 
Mr. Zhongze Wu indicated that ITS China will play its industry association privilege card and emphasizes its roles in connecting the governments and industry, regulating the business behaviour, promoting ITS R&D, bridging international communication and cooperation. ITS China will become a vital association by providing satisfying service for the governments, society and its members.
 
Mr. Jianlin Cao, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Songde Ma, former Vice Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Jinguo Liu, Vice Minister of Public Security, Mr. Hongfeng Gao, Vice Minister of Communications, Mr. Dongfu Lu, Vice Minister of Railway assumed the role of advisors to ITS China. Mr. Xiaojing Wang, Deputy Director-General of Research Institute of Highway, Ministry of Communications and another 6 people assumed the Vice Chairmen of ITS China.
