General News: ITS Hungary Association holds General Assembly and awards prize

The Prize “ITS Hungary Honour of Excellence” was awarded for the second time in a remarkable award ceremony during the General Assembly Meeting. The Prize was introduced by the Board of the Association with a view to rewarding the most innovative ITS projects representing excellent inventive solutions implemented by members of the Association. ”ITS Hungary Honour of Excellence 2008” has been awarded to ”HITS – Hungarian ITS Framework Architecture”, a product of COWI Hungary Ltd. by unanimous decision of the Selection Committee. Within the CONNECT Programme, the creation, dissemination and improvement of the HITS Framework Architecture should result in the establishment of harmonised, interoperable, modularly structured ITS systems. The ”ITS Hungary Honour of Excellence” medal, along with the prizes and certificates were handed over to the winner by Mr. Lajos Szűcs, General Director of Roads at the Ministry of Economy and Transport. Mr. Szűcs took the opportunity to highlight the future role of intelligent transport systems and the pioneering efforts of the Association in this field.

The General Assembly Meeting also approved the admission of new members, the membership of ITS Hungary Association has thus increased to 40.
