General News: Smart environment interest group meeting
Date: 10 October 2007
ITS United Kingdom interest group holds 7 November 2007 conference on benefits of ITS on the environment.
Member of the ERTICO - ITS Europe-hosted Network of National ITS Associations, ITS United Kingdom's Smart Environment Interest Group is holding a conference at The Institute of Marine Engineers in London on Wednesday 7 November 2007 from 10.00 – 17.00.
The Smart Environment Interest Group (SEIG) was established in 2000 and has been led by Professor Margaret Bell.
The SEIG provides a forum for all ITS United Kingdom members with an interest in transportation and the environment to meet, discuss their views and study the uses of ITS to benefit the environment. The group includes those concerned with the measurement of the impact of transportation on the environment, and the potential environmental benefits of ITS. The group aims to be of value to local authorities, air quality managers, highway and traffic engineers, planners, transport operators, consultants offering services to these organisations, manufacturers and service providers developing and selling related products and services, and to universities and other research establishments.
In 2007, for the first time, the SEIG invites ITS professionals with an interest in environmental issues to an international conference in London.
The programme includes presentations by, among others, ERTICO Partners LogicaCMG and innovITS.
