General News: TISA committees get going
Date: 28 January 2008
23 January 2008, three TISA committees meet to explore needs and identify priorities for traveller information services.
The ERTICO – ITS Europe-hosted Traveller Information Services Association (TISA) held its first Committee meetings this month at the Fondation Universitaire in Brussels, Belgium. The Technical and Standards Committee, Content and Service Provision Committee and Products Committee all met on 23 January 2008. Over 57 participants attended these first TISA meetings, following the inaugural General Assembly held in Berlin on 21 November 2007.
The committee meetings explored the needs of the members - including those new members not previously involved in TMC Forum or TPEG Forum activities - to ensure all requirements would be covered, and identified initial priority areas for working groups.
The Technical and Standards Committee brings together the technical development of new features and applications and readies them for either international standardisation or de facto specifications for use amongst TISA members.
The Content and Service Committee brings together an end-to-end concern for information content and provision to the end-user.
The Products Committee addresses both TISA product such as provision of Service IDs, Location Database Certifications and translations of events phrases and TPEG Tables and products in the retail market place.
