Huge interest for TMC in China
Date: 15 December 2005
On 6 December 2005 ERTICO together with European and Chinese partners of the Dynasty project successfully organised a 'TMC Demonstration' in Beijing. The TMC Demonstration attracted about 200 European and Chinese ITS experts from various fields, such as digital mapping, vehicle on-board navigation, TMC generation and traffic data as well as Chinese policy makers, regulators, infrastructure operators, and representatives from user groups.

The demonstration showed the whole service chain of collecting traffic information, processing and transmission platform set up under the project, as well as how TMC messages are generated, transmitted and integrated into the in-vehicle navigation system.
ERTICO also held a press conference in Shanghai on 8 December 2005. More than 40 journalists from China’s major TV stations, newspapers and magazines visited the event. At the press conference, ERTICO introduced the Dynasty project, a cooperative effort between key Chinese authorities and a number of major European industry players. Furthermore, future plans for a full scale roll out of TMC in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Ningbo were mentioned. It is believed that these activities are very important for the organisation of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.
