Network of National ITS Associations gears up for London ITS Congress
Date: 12 September 2006
The ERTICO-hosted Network of National ITS Associations and its members are readying them for an active autumn, starting with a strong presence at the ITS World Congress in London, 8-12 October. The Network aims to provide a dynamic impetus to the promotion and support of ITS organisations in Europe and beyond, and its participation at the Congress hopes to emphasise this.
As the centrepiece of its London activities, the Network has organised a Special Session on Wednesday, 11 October (SS53 11.00-12.30) entitled “How the national ITS organisations can foster the future implementation of ITS”. The session, which will be moderated by Network Chairman Christer Karlsson of ITS Sweden, will emphasise the importance of the national ITS organisations and their role in getting all of the relevant ITS actors together. Top-level representatives from 5 different ITS organisations – as well as ERTICO CEO Arnold van Zyl – will share their expertise and experiences.
Representatives of the Network members are also participating in various technical sessions and of course, Network member ITS United Kingdom has a very important role as one of the event hosts. It is also co-organising an ancillary event, the Rail-ITS Event on 13 October examining e-ticketing for rail transport.
The Exhibition will also offer another great opportunity to meet and find more about Network members’ activities. It includes national-focused stands from TTS Italia, ITS Switzerland, ITS Netherlands, ITS France, ITS Austria (AustriaTech) and host ITS United Kingdom, and a “Nordic Pavilion” featuring ITS-Sweden, ITS Finland, ITS Denmark and ITS Norway.
After the busy week in London, the Network will hold its biannual meeting in Budapest on 27 October, at which it will discuss ITS education and other outreach activities.
