News from the eCall Driving Group
Date: 29 July 2005
The eCall Driving Group had their last meeting 7 July 2005 in Brussels. It discussed the feedback from April’s eCall expert meeting in Helsinki, the eSafety Forum meeting in Hannover and the various sector meetings that have taken place since the last DG eCall meeting on 14 April.
The meetings with the insurance and telecom operators sectors should been seen as a real step forward for eCall deployment. By expressly targeting the individual sectors, the particular issues related to eCall for that specific sector can be effectively addressed.
At the 7 July meeting, Michael Nielsen, ERTICO Director of Development and co-Chair of the DG eCall stressed that now is the time to really move forward. According to the agreed action plan, all stakeholders should have signed the eCall Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by June 2005. By the end of this year, the business model, ETSI standard and a rollout plan should also be defined.
To meet these deadlines, various working groups were established with clear objectives and targets. Different members of the DG eCall agreed to lead the different working groups, as all participants recognised the importance of moving forward.
More details regarding the meeting, including the action list and presentations, will shortly be available in the eCall Toolbox.
