ERTICO News: Additional events round out ITS Congress

Date: 13 June 2007

Ancillary events, technical visits and social events add to the excitement of the 6th European Congress and Exhibition on ITS in Aalborg, Denmark from 18-20 June 2007.

Not only will the 6th European Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport in Aalborg, from 18-20 June 2007, feature a fantastic programme of sessions, it will also offer something extra with its ancillary events, technical visits and social events.

Ancillary action
Organised in conjunction with the Congress and Exhibition, and open to the congress attendees, are the following events:

i2TERN Conference, 20-21 June, Aalborg Kongress & Kultur Centre (AKKC):
The seven Euro-regional projects ARTS, CENTRICO, CONNECT – in which ERTICO – ITS Europe is a participant, CORVETTE, SERTI, STREETWISE and VIKING are implementing Intelligent Transport Systems and Services in Europe. The i2TERN Conference 2007 represents a unique opportunity to present what the Euro-regional projects have achieved so far by sharing their results and outputs and taking a look into the future.

Further information and registration can be found at www.i2TERN.info

SIMBA European Priority Workshop, 21 June, Hotel Hvide Hus:
The ERTICO-coordinated SIMBA project will hold a workshop to discuss priority areas for international cooperation between Europe and Brazil, China, India and South Arica within ITS, automotive and infrastructure. Participants will hear from these emerging markets their interests in cooperation with Europe. Discussions at the event will establish the concrete areas for future collaboration between Europe and emerging markets.

For further information, please contact ERITCO Project Coordinator Priti Prajapati

Passenger Information in Rail, 21 June, Hotel Hvide Hus:
ITS United Kingdom, ITS Denmark (both members of the ERTICO-hosted Network of National ITS Associations) and ERTICO-Partner Banverket of Sweden will hold a one-day seminar on passenger information in rail. The seminar will demonstrate a broad range of European experiences in passenger information in rail, covering both technical and management issues. The multimodal aspect of passenger information, where rail is one mode, will be covered, as will passenger information benefits created as part of new ticketing investments.

CVIS Open Workshops, 21 June, Hotel Hvide Hus:
The ERTICO-coordinated CVIS project's workshop is an open and informal event that will address the issues surrounding architectures for cooperative vehicle-infrastructure systems and services. The programme includes a presentation of the architecture developed in the CVIS project for vehicle-vehicle and vehicle-infrastructure communication and networking, as well as a selection of urban, inter-urbanand freight/fleet cooperative applications. It will also feature interactive sessions focusing on architecture-related issues for future deployment. The aim is to present and validate the various CVIS architecture views before the project enters its development and test phase.

The workshop is open to both CVIS project partners and to the ITS community in general. The final outcome of the workshop should be a better understanding of and agreement on the different elements that need to interface and interact seamlessly, in order that cooperative systems can work together to bring benefits to all users and stakeholders.

For further information and to register, please contact ERTICO Project Associate Julie Castermans

ETNITE Final Workshop, 19 June, Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Centre (AKKC):

The Leonardo de Vinci co-financed project ETNITE, in which ERTICO is a participant, is coming to an end by 30 June 2007. The aim of the project was to improve the scope and quality of ITS training and education in Europe by supporting ITS-EduNet, a self-sustaining, pan-European organisation formed in May 2004 devoted to these issues. The ETNITE consortium will present major project results and findings and introduce the ITS-EduNet Network, its high-leveloperational structure and the rules to become a member.
