Developer of powertrain systems expands ERTICO expertise.

With its membership approved by the ERTICO – ITS Europe Supervisory Board in September, AVL joins the list of ERTICO Partners aiming to facilitate safe, secure, clean, efficient and comfortable mobility.

Founded in 1948, AVL is a privately owned and independent company that develops powertrain systems with internal combustion engines, as well as instrumentation and test systems. Additionally, AVL develops and markets the simulation methods necessary for the development work.

Josef Affenzeller notes that, “At AVL, we believe that communication between vehicles and the infrastructure represents a great potential for improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. In order to meet the future demands of mobility, a system approach integrating information and communication technology with transport infrastructure, vehicle and user is required. We look forward to cooperation with ERTICO and its members in the field of ITS.”

AVL has participated in more than 70 European RTD projects, coordinates ERTRAC (Tech Platform for Road Transport) and is a member of ARTEMISIA (Embedded Systems JTI) and the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Tech Platform.
