UK ITS centre for excellence sings on as ERTICO Partner.

innovITS is a young and vibrant UK ITS centre for excellence for transport telematics and technology for sustainable mobility. It is government funded, by the UK BERR (Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform), formerly the Department for Trade & Industry (DTI), providing innovation support to UK companies to accelerate business growth in IT through technological innovation. It does this by coordinating research and technology demonstration programmes, in particular the integration of leading edge results from research invention in realistic systems to demonstrate the value of these new solutions in delivering value to travellers or transport operators.

As part of its role, innovITS is operating the ITS Knowledge Transfer Network, facilitating exchange of information between government, industry and the research community. The ITS KTN acts as a key interface for the UK industry into the UK government’s cross-departmental ITSS Innovation Platform.

Asked why innovITS joined ERTICO, Phil Pettitt, innovITS CEO replied:

“Joining ERTICO enables innovITS to work for the UK ITS community on a European basis.  This is important as UK products and services need to be developed in the wider European, if not global, context.”
