ERTICO – ITS Europe Partner Octo Telematics (MetaSystem Group) can now boast over 590,000 active customers of its on-board Telematics System in only three years. The service is in full deployment stage in Italy, Spain, UK, and Austria. Several insurance companies and carmakers are using Octo Telematics technology for Pay As You Drive, Pay Per Use, Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Remote Diagnostic.

The continuous growth of the customer base confirms the trend towards massive Telematics deployment. Octo Telematics solutions enable a system of use-based insurance premiums, where  the car usage data is also taken into account, with a fully privacy-proof compliancy. Moreover, with an automatic accident reporting (an e-call “reality”, before the official e-call) and the  possibility of locating the vehicle after theft, the solution increases safety  and security for persons and property.

The largest fleet in Europe for Floating Car Data
Thanks to the its penetration of 1.5% of the Italian car market, Octo Telematics is also supplying traffic data (FCD) in real time. The data is supplied anonymously in real time by hundreds of thousands of users who are equipped with the company's position-tracking systems. The traffic information is now available free of charge on Octo’s web site.

Congestion and Pollution Charging
With the same Telematics platform, Octo is now ready to deliver also information related to the  environmental impact of the vehicle, enabling a fairer taxation or incentive system that also takes the car usage (time & place) into account, not only the environmental class of the vehicle itself. Hence new concepts of Pay (or Save) as You Pollute are now a reality and included, with no investment, in the full scale operating Telematics platform.
