Partner News: Taxi to the future
Date: 21 August 2007
ERTICO Partner Dutch ministry requests participation in second market consultation for Onboard Computer Taxi.
Through a market consultation the ERTICO – ITS Europe Partner Dutch Transport and Water Management Inspectorate has consulted potential manufacturers on the functionalities of an onboard computer for taxis.
By means of a second market consultation the Inspectorate would like to discuss the detailed functional and technical specifications with potential manufacturers of the onboard computer. The focus of this discussion will be the time needed for development and production, the costs and the feasibility of these specifications.
The rationale for the onboard computer is that currently the taxi driver needs to manually register information on both the fares and the driving and resting times. This manual registration system is labour intensive and prone to fraud, leading to false competition and high administrative costs.
Parties wishing to participate in the market consultation should meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrated relevant knowledge with regard to the proposed functionality of the Onboard Computer Taxi.
- Agree to the publication of results of the market consultation by the Transport and Water Management Inspectorate Netherlands. The results will not be name-linked to individual organizations.
- Agree to have the name of your organization mentioned on the website of the Inspectorate as a participating party in the market consultation of the Onboard Computer Taxi.
If you are interested in participating in this market consultation, please register through www.ivw.nl/boordcomputertaxi. Once you have registered and are deemed to fulfil the necessary requirements you should receive the relevant documentation no later than 7 September 2007.
Registration closes on 3 September 2007.
