Project News: PReVENT features at European ITS Congress

PReVENT project and subprojects participate in the 6th European Congress and Exhibition on ITS.

The Integrated Project (IP) PReVENT held a Special Session on 20 June 2007 in Aalborg, Denmark at the 6th European Congress and Exhibition on ITS.

The EC-funded IP PReVENT project (PReVENTive and Active Safety Applications) is developing and demonstrating integrated in-vehicle safety applications using state-of-the-art sensors, maps and communication systems developing, testing and spreading awareness of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for improved road safety. If used broadly, thousands of lives could be saved by such preventive and active safety applications every year.

An overview of the applications developed in PReVENT project, as well as tests and validation results, were presented at the Special Session “PReVENT Integrated Project: Tests and Validation results” that was moderated by Ms Holmberg from the EC DG INFSO.

PReVENT subproject MAPS&ADAS also featured in the Special Sessions, “Digital Maps – towards a new generation of maps enabling safer, smarter and cleaner transport” and “SpeedAlert Forum – from research to development”, while the ‘Code of Practice for development and validation of ADAS’ developed in the PReVENT subproject RESPONSE 3 was presented at the “Enablers for deployment” Special Session.

Technical papers from the PReVENT subprojects SASPENCE, INTERSAFE, WILLWARN and MAPS&ADAS were also presented in Aalborg.
