Project News: ROSATTE project kicks off!

24-25 January 2008, ERTICO-coordinated project, ROSATTE, holds first meeting of stakeholders in Brussels.

The ERTICO – ITS Europe-coordinated ROSATTE project kicked off with a meeting that took place on 24-25 January 2008 in Brussels, Belgium at the ERTICO premises. Attending stakeholders agreed on the project objectives' expected results and planned future activities.

ROSATTE is a 30-month project co-financed by the EC DG Information & Society & Media. It intends to develop the enabling infrastructure and supporting tools that will ensure European access to road safety attributes, including incremental updates. This infrastructure will facilitate internal functions as well as the supply of data to third parties, e.g. for safety relevant services.

The meeting’s participants took this opportunity to officially launch WP1 activities in the formulation of requirements from data users and data providers and the definition of a common architecture. These functional, technical, quality and organisational requirements will be the basis for the technical work to be done in the succeeding work packages.

ROSATTE puts together an experimented consortium of 15 European companies and organisations consisting of public and road authorities, commercial map providers and research institutes. The following ERTICO Partners are involved in the ROSATTE project; ASFA - Association des Sociétés Françaises d'Autoroutes et d'Ouvrages à Péage, Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works & Water Management, Vlaamse Overheid, Department Mobility & Public Works, French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning, Navteq, NPRA - Norwegian Public Roads Administration, PTV Planung Transport und Verkehr AG, SRA - Swedish Road Administration and Tele Atlas. In addition to coordinating the project, ERTICO also has a leading role in the work package dedicated to the assessment of organisational aspects and evaluation of the expected benefits for data users and data providers.
