Re-establishment of ITS Hungary!
Date: 09 February 2006
After an unsuccessful attempt to establish a Hungarian national ITS Association in 2004, the new ITS Hungary was re-established on 24 January 2006.
A true example of a public/private partnership, the new ITS Hungary was founded by 30 stakeholders in Hungarian ITS deployment/development. Founder members are ministries, road operators, network operators, system providers, road authorities, private companies, as well as universities and research institutes.
The elected officials of the new organisation are as follows:
| President: |
Mr Lajos Szűcs (Director General, Hungarian Ministry of Economy and Transport)
|
| Deputy Presidents: |
Dr Kálmán Nagy (Director General, Ministry of Informatics and Communications) |
|
Mr Zoltán Jenovai (Head of Department, Metropolitan Public Spaces Maintenance Company Ltd)
|
| Secretary General: |
Dr Agnes Lindenbach |
| Members of the Board: |
Mr Péter Hernádi (Director for Operations, State Highway Management Company) |
|
Dr László Ruppert (Managing Director, Institute for Transport Sciences Ltd) |
|
Mr Tamás Perjés (Director for Transport, COWI Hungary Ltd) |
Although ITS Hungary’s work programme is currently under elaboration, the main target is to support the main goals of the country’s transport policy and promote ITS applications in the transport sector in the framework of a public/private partnership. ITS Hungary will join the Network of National ITS Associations, and will co-operate closely with several Hungarian and international organisations/associations.
