TNO symposium on cooperative vehicle-infrastructure systems
Date: 05 January 2007
ERTICO Partner plans event, 28 March 2007 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
ERTICO Partner TNO believes that in a few years’ time mutual communication between vehicles and between vehicles and roadside systems will become a common feature. TNO is intent on playing a pro-active role in the development of cooperative systems and in making the parties involved aware of these developments and challenges. Thus, it will hold a 28 March symposium to explore issues such as:
- How will the driver deal with such systems?
- How will the traffic agencies be affected and what possibilities will they be offered?
- How can such systems be properly tested?
- Why haven’t car manufacturers put the systems into standard vehicle production yet?
- Who will be testing and certifying all these systems?
During the event’s plenary session various stakeholders will give their views on the development of cooperative systems. In the afternoon, there will be real-world demonstrations of cooperative systems and presentations of a variety of European projects that focus on the development, evaluation and implementation of such systems - such as the ERTICO-coordinated CVIS Integrated Project, in which TNO has a number of important roles. The demonstrations will be looking specifically at the “Integral Speed Assistant” and “Cooperative Network Management” applications.
The symposium will also give TNO the opportunity to demonstrate its SUMMITS Tool Suite that is able to test cooperative systems at various stages of their development.
The event is aimed at:
- European, national regional policy developers in the field of intelligent transport systems and traffic innovation
- Developers and managers of road infrastructure
- Representatives of the car and traffic industry
- Traffic service organisations that want to be able to anticipate the development of cooperative systems
- Vehicle fleet owners who want to gain insight into the advantages of such systems
- Members of the media
