Eddie leaves the house on Monday morning and receives real-time information on the estimated time to the office by car or public transport. He decides to go by car. He gets assistance for eco-driving (recommended speed & gear selection)and safe driving support from Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (speed alert). During the trip, Eddie receives warning of an accident and changes to a new recommended route…
The crash vehicle sends an automatic eCall message to nearest call centre as well as a local warning to nearby vehicles. The call is received by the nearest hospital which dispatches emergency services. The ambulance moves quickly to the accident scene as all traffic lights turn red to stop other traffic.

Eddie enters the city limits and receives warning of a traffic jam ahead. He has two choices: either drive through the city and pay the city access charge or drive to the nearby Park & Ride (P&R) facility and take the bus.
Eddie books online for the P&R service, parks his car and receives information on his mobile phone about where to find the right bus stop for his destination. He also receives “green credit” for using public transport!

Eddie receives detailed journey guidance, including transfer time and estimated arrival time at destination. He can also pay for his bus ticket via his mobile phone. With mobile internet connection in the bus, Eddie places an internet order for a book to be delivered to his office...
Eddie arrives at his office, on time and ready to start the working day!

Eddie’s order arrives at the online shop and is forwarded to the warehouse to prepare the parcel. The online order is sent to the express courier service who schedules the pick-up and delivery. The parcel is transported to the city distribution centre for pick-up by an electric van.
The book order is passed online to the driver with a recommended itinerary to Eddie’s office for electric vehicles only. The driver receives real-time traffic information. His itinerary is automatically updated and the revised ETA: ‘Estimated Time of Arrival’ is forwarded to Eddie at his office.
Eddie is informed that his parcel has arrived and goes to collect it!
