iCars Network

The iCars Network contributes to the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) by exchanging knowledge and experience on lates developments of these technologies among a wide variety of stakeholders on a number of specific topics.

The iCars Network is made up of thematic groups and will focus on:

  1. the exchange of information between the world of ITS development and the world of public procurement.
  2. the exchange of good practices between organisations who deal with dissemination of information and awareness actions among authorities, businesses and end-users.
  3. the exchange of knowledge and evaluations of impact assessment methods for ITS.
  4. the exchange on ITS technologies having a possible positive effect on energy efficiency in road transport and developing a road map on the introduction of these technologies.

Objectives

The iCars Network aims to stimulate innovation and competitiveness through the wider uptake and best use of ITS by citizens, governments and business. The Network specifically addresses the uptake of ITS for transport in order to:

  • Make vehicles smarter, cleaner and safer
  • Reduce the number of deaths on the roads
  • Contribute to lower emissions
  • Improve the global competitiveness of the European automotive and ITS industry
