Joint workshop of EasyWay and ROSATTE

On Friday 26th June 2009, ERTICO ITS Europe has hosted a joint workshop where stakeholders from EasyWay and ROSATTE have been brought together to address issues like how road operators and other stakeholders can cooperate to improve traffic and road safety management thanks to speed limit databases and how road users can benefit from the forthcoming implementations of associated services.

To address these issues and figure out the first elements of a common EasyWay-ROSATTE
framework, 3 sessions have been proposed during the workshop.

In the first session, the ROSATTE project has been presented by its partners: Maxime Flament (ERTICO) has presented the project overview and approach, Trond Hovland (ITS Norway) has displayed a global state-of-the-art on safety data storage, data exchange and data update, and, taking into consideration the first results on ROSATTE, Ola Rennemo (SINTEF) has made a point on the required architecture to process exchanges of speed limit data.

During the second session, thanks to the available first results, a feedback has been proposed on implementations initiated in 3 different Member States: Olof Bergman (SRA) has presented the implementation case in Norway and Sweden, Nele Dedene (Flanders DOT) presented the Flanders feedback, and Loic Blave (SETRA) and Frank Petit (Cofiroute) the French one.
Following the presentations a debate was opened on expected experiences and skills transfer between ROSATTE and EasyWay partners/projects.

During the third session, EasyWay and stakeholders perspective, a roundtable was set up joining different fields and associated stakeholders: the European Commission, map makers, personal devices constructors, car manufacturers and EasyWay representatives. Issues addressed have focused on the ITS Action Plan, the needs and requirements of involved bodies, the integration of cooperative systems in vehicles, the types of interfaces and the management of road safety/traffic issues.
