9th ITS European Congress - Dublin

The 9th European Congress and Exhibition will be held 4–7 June 2013 at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD).

All regions face similar challenges in delivering sustainable transport solutions to meet their current and future mobility requirements. Transport authorities are aware of the real needs specific to their region but often find it difficult to identify detailed information on targeted ITS solutions that would deliver direct and tangible positive outcomes.

Dublin 2013 Congress will primarily focus on ITS solutions that are driven by policy as opposed to being technology-led. The emphasis will be on proven deployed solutions and innovative R&D that is focused on solving real problems and delivering value for money in today’s challenging economic environment.

The 9th ITS European Congress is organised by ERTICO - ITS Europe and the European Commission and will be hosted by ITS Ireland, Dublin City Council and the Ministry of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

The 9th ITS European Congress is on the official list of events of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Where: Noordwijk, The Netherlands

When: 17-19 July 2013

The 20th International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory (ISTTT) will be held at the Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk, The Netherlands from July 17 to July 19, 2013. The 20th Symposium will be organized by Delft University of Technology.
The ISTTT series is the premier gathering for the world's leading transportation and traffic theorists, and for those who are interested in contributing to or gaining a deeper understanding of the field.

The symposium covers all scientific aspects of transportation and traffic, spanning all modes of transport, including freight, air, and maritime modes, as well as private and public transport.

Topics

Sample topics welcomed by the symposium include but are not limited to:

Traffic flow theories and their implications

Traffic management and control

Dynamics of transport phenomena, especially when coupled with observation

Intelligent Transport Systems

Travel behavior processes and demand modeling

Vehicular interactions in mixed-mode traffic

Congestion pricing and other policies

Scheduled modes (public transport, air networks): system planning, service design and

operations)

Pedestrian and crowd modeling

Transport safety

Network modelling and dynamics

Routing and scheduling in transportation systems

Freight transport modeling, logistics, and supply chains

Terminal design and operation

Transportation policy

Extended abstract and paper submission

As in past symposia, paper review will be a two-stage process. An extended abstract (around 1000 words) can be submitted electronically to the organizers through the website www.isttt20.orgbetween August 15, 2011 and January 15, 2012 for the first-round review. Since for the ISTTT series the principal criterium is the scientific contribution of the work, we emphasize that the extended abstracts need to provide sufficient (theoretical, mathematical or empirical) evidence to allow the reviewers to assess this contribution.

Please note that the official language for the ISTTT is (UK) English.
Accepted papers will be published both in the symposium book (Elsevier Procedia series) and in Special Issues of the Transportation Research series.
Given the high standards of the ISTTT series, only 36 papers will be selected for podium presentation and publications in the conference proceedings. In addition, around 24 papers will be selected for a poster presentation. These papers will be made available via the symposium website only.

Deadlines

Please find below the most important dates for ISTTT20:

August 1, 2011: Call for papers

January 15, 2012 : Submission of extended abstracts

MT-ITS 2013

2 – 4 DECEMBER, 2013

After the successful meetings in Rome in 2009 and 2011 in Leuven the 3rd International Conference on Models and Technologies for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) will be held in Dresden in December 2013. The main topic of this meeting will be the intermodal use of ITS in urban traffic.

In public transport vehicle related devices act as sensors for the acquisition and transfer of traffic data, e. g. the positions of busses and trams which are sent to intermodal transport control systems (ITCS) or the communication between vehicles and traffic lights. In private traffic several systems based on vehicle’s on-board units or mobile devices have been tested and in part been put in operation within the last years.

Based on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication (V2I), an increasing market penetration of cooperative systems will affect traffic management in urban areas and might improve its possibilities. One of the prospective challenges is to combine data and information gathered by infrastructure related systems with the one of cooperative systems. Science has to deal with both, possibilities and challenges, to achieve additional benefit for the future intermodal mobility management.

Beside this main topic, the third edition of MT-ITS calls for papers on models and technologies of ITS for air, rail and long-distance road transport.

The conference language is English.

In order to continue and intensify the exchange of science and regular operation, one day of the conference will be designated to case studies and implementation aspects. On that day, the conference participants might also join the 9th annual meeting of the ViMOS Competence Centre for Operational Traffic Management which will be held in German language at the same location. At this conference people from science, industry, public authorities as well as transport operators meet to discuss implementation and operation aspects of current ITS projects.
