How do policy and innovation drive a sustainable and resilient European economy? The roundtable discussion, titled “Green vs Industrial Deal: Backtrack or Breakthrough?”, taking place at the Public Affairs Summit on 5 November at 14.15 at Square Brussels, will examine how technological innovation can bridge industrial growth and environmental sustainability, addressing key questions of investment and policy alignment to advance Europe’s mobility transformation.
For ERTICO – ITS Europe, this discussion lies at the heart of its mission to advance the green and digital transition through smart mobility innovation and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The session will be moderated by Thomas Hayden-Lefebvre, Founder and Editor of Green Mobility Magazine, our proud media partner of the 17th ITS European Congress 2026.
Together with the invited speakers, Philippe Lamberts, Advisor to the President of the European Commission, Gabrielle Gauthey, CEO High Representative by the EU institutions, TotalEnergies and Manon Dufour, Executive Director of E3G's Brussels office, ERTICO CEO Joost Vantomme will contribute his perspective on how the transport and mobility sectors are implementing Europe’s twin transition. Drawing on ERTICO’s work in EU-funded projects, innovation platforms, and international cooperation, he will highlight tangible examples from the automotive industrial action plan, transport electrification, mobility data spaces, artificial intelligence, and connected and automated mobility. His contribution will also explore the global context, comparing European strategies with developments in the United States and Asia-Pacific, where ERTICO collaborates closely with ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific.
