Held in Brussels on 10th June, in parallel with the inaugural two-day Annual Partnership Forum, ERTICO hosted its 35th General Assembly.
On the occasion, ERTICO gathered its public and private partners to reflect on key milestones, welcome new leadership appointments, and outline a forward-looking path for smart mobility in Europe.
Opening the Assembly, ERTICO Chairman Dr Angelos Amditis acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the ERTICO Partnership over the past year. He highlighted a period marked by significant progress, most notably the relocation to ERTICO’s new offices in Brussels, strong visibility at global events including ITS World Congress in Dubai and the ITS European Congress in Seville, as well as the onboarding of five new Partners since May 2024.
Dr Amditis emphasised ERTICO’s expanding leadership in European mobility innovation, particularly through its work on cooperative, connected, and automated mobility, electrification, and the development of data spaces. He also drew attention to ERTICO’s growing influence in European policy, including active contributions to transport-related legislation and strategic alignment with the EU’s future research agenda.
Following the Chairman’s address, CEO Joost Vantomme delivered the Year in Review, highlighting ERTICO’s role in advancing innovation, fostering international partnerships, and accelerating knowledge-sharing. He highlighted the involvement and active contribution across 34 EU-funded projects, including 12 launched in the past year, advancing key areas such as CCAM, electrification, data spaces, and aerial mobility through the new IDI Innovation Platform. Strategic engagement with EU policy was a recurring theme, including contributions to legislative work on Artificial Intelligence (AI), urban mobility, and alongside advocacy for a simplified and impactful FP10 research framework.
Joost closed his intervention by showcasing highlights from many activities in the 2024 – 2025 Annual Video and expressed his appreciation to all Partners and the ERTICO team for the continued collaboration and dedication.
The finance and administration report by Wolfgang Foltin, Chair of the Finance Group, and Didier Gorteman, Chief Finance & Operations Officer, presented the Finance & Administration report, confirming ERTICO’s stable and healthy position, with 2024 results aligning closely with forecasts. The Annual Accounts and net results were unanimously approved by the Assembly.
The Assembly also confirmed the co-opted members Chris Lane, Transport for West Midlands (Public Authorities sector) and Menno Malta, Monotch (Traffic and Transport sector).
Next to approving the continuation of all eight sector categories, and endorsing the rules governing board seat allocation, two new appointments for the Supervisory Board were decided: Ralf Weber, Qualcomm (Connectivity sector) and Nicole Scourti, Arriva (Users sector)
With appointments from both public and private sectors, the board reflects the strength of ERTICO’s multi-stakeholder model and its commitment to inclusive governance. It concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening ERTICO’s role as a leading European platform for smart mobility. With a clear strategic direction of ERTICO’s Vision 2035, Partners affirmed their shared ambition to deliver innovation, impact, and sustainable mobility for Europe and beyond.
