The Data for Road Safety (DFRS) platform has released its first Impact Report, a milestone publication designed to share tangible progress, achievements, and use cases with its community and beyond.
DFRS is a unique cross-sector ecosystem that brings together vehicle manufacturers, service providers, public authorities, and associations to transform vehicle-generated data into life-saving insights. By sharing real-time Safety-Related Traffic Information (SRTI), DFRS is already making European roads safer and contributing to the EU’s Vision Zero ambition.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility, and the challenges we face are too complex for any single organisation to tackle alone,” said Ismail Mohanad, Chair of the DFRS Technical Group.
The report demonstrates DFRS’s real-world impact, operational advancements, scalable collaboration, and cross-border effectiveness, addressing the eight case scenarios defined under the European Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 886/2013. From Germany and the Netherlands to Belgium, Finland, Austria and the UK, the report shows how collaborative data sharing is delivering results for road users and operators alike.
“This Impact Report of our DFRS community is a vivid testimony of the power of collaboration. Together, we are proving the true impact of real-time traffic information,” said Joost Vantomme, Chair of the DFRS General Assembly.
The publication also includes testimonials from members across sectors, providing evidence of how collective efforts and open cooperation can drive safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility.
The DFRS Impact Report will be periodically updated to reflect the growing maturity of the ecosystem.
