For over 30 years, ERTICO has been connecting minds to turn innovation into action at the ITS Congresses
An open invitation for cities to share their expression of interest in hosting the next ITS Congress
The Call for Tender is now open for cities in the European region wishing to host the ITS European Congresses in 2028 and 2029, as well as the ITS World Congress in 2030 in the EMEA region.
The ITS Congress is Europe’s leading event on smart mobility, bringing together public authorities, industry leaders, researchers, and international organisations. Each edition provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange, high-level dialogue, innovation showcasing, and demonstrations of solutions already deployed on the ground.
Hosting an ITS Congress offers cities the opportunity to:
- Highlight their long-term mobility strategy
- Showcase local innovation and real-life deployments
- Engage directly with global mobility stakeholders
- Attract investment, partnerships, and international visibility
The application is a two-stage selection process. It first includes the evaluation of an Initial Call for Interest with a submission of the minimum requirement document. This is followed by a second stage, namely a full tender process.
Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 13 February 2026
"The ITS Congresses have stood as the benchmark gathering for intelligent transport since 1994. They were founded on a shared recognition that the transport sector needed a forum to exchange knowledge, address challenges, and accelerate the innovations shaping the future of mobility," says Didier Gorteman. "For host cities, the Congress is far more than an event; it is an opportunity to become a genuine mobility living lab. By enabling the showcase of its pilots, live demonstrations, and close cooperation with local, regional, and national authorities, the Congress leaves a visible and lasting legacy that strengthens a city’s role in Europe’s mobility transition."

ITS European Congress
Organised by ERTICO every two consecutive years, the ITS European Congress highlights achievements and advancements in mobility and transport across cities and regions where they are hosted.
Delivered in partnership with the host City, supporting organisations and in collaboration with the European Commission, the Congress attracts up to 3,000 attendees who share the ambition to make safer, more resilient and sustainable mobility a reality.
Reflecting the European goals in mobility and transport, these events become the epicentre of Europe’s intelligent transport conversation. From research and pilot projects to concrete real-world deployment of everyday solutions and services, the Congress aim to advance smarter, safer, and more sustainable ways of moving people and goods.
ITS World Congress
The ITS World Congress is the leading global event in smart mobility and digital transport, co-organised annually by ERTICO – ITS Europe, ITS America, and ITS Asia-Pacific. Every third year, ERTICO organise the Congress in the EMEA region, bringing together over 15,000 participants from across the world, including industry leaders, public authorities, researchers, and innovators.
As cities and regions around the world face similar challenges, the ITS World Congress provides a global platform to exchange ideas, align strategies, and showcase scalable solutions. It reflects a shared ambition among public and private stakeholders to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and accelerate the transition towards a safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility future.
Benefits to host cities
The ITS Congresses create a lasting legacy for each host city. As the epicentre of a living lab, the host city has the unique opportunity to showcase its mobility strategies and innovations to citizens and Congress participants through live demonstrations and technical visits. This visibility positions the city as a leader in future mobility, while engaging local, regional, national, and international stakeholders.
In close collaboration with local authorities, regional ITS organisations, and the European Commission, ERTICO ensures that each Congress reflects both local ambitions and global mobility challenges, delivering a long-term impact and recognition for everyone involved.
Benefits for ERTICO Partners
ERTICO Partners play an active role in shaping each Congress. From speaking opportunities and exhibition presence to direct involvement in programme development, partners gain valuable visibility and influence. The Congresses offer access to new business leads, strategic collaborations, and key decision-makers across the mobility ecosystem. In close cooperation with the Programme Committees, we invite and encourage our partners to contribute ideas and feedback to help define the theme, topics, and overall direction of a successful and forward-looking conference.
Unique opportunities for all
ITS Congresses offer a unique platform for public and private stakeholders to share expertise, present innovative solutions, and demonstrate real-world mobility services. Through expert sessions, technical presentations, and use cases in real life, participants gain visibility, build partnerships, and contribute to shaping a safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility future.
