Following a successful week of engagement at the 17th ITS European Congress in Istanbul last month, strong international interest in the 33rd ITS World Congress, set to take place in Birmingham, 25-29 October 2027.
Representatives from Transport for the West Midlands, the Department for Transport and ERTICO – ITS Europe met industry leaders, exhibitors and partners throughout the Congress week.
Jasvinder Sidhu, ERTICO’s Commercial Partnerships and Exhibition Lead, commented: “Following a highly successful ITS European Congress in Istanbul, I’m pleased to see a strong wave of bookings and growing sponsorship interest already building for the next ITS World Congress taking place in Birmingham 2027."
“It was a very successful week, with an overwhelming amount of interest in being a part of Birmingham ’27,” adds Jordan Cowley, Business Development Executive at TfWM. “We’re now just doing the last bit of paperwork and will be ready to announce our first sponsors and exhibitors, but I think it’s fair to say we’re ahead of where we expected to be as we approach 500 days from the event.”
The Birmingham 2027 team will continue engagement with international partners and industry leaders in the lead-up to the Congress, as preparations accelerate towards delivering a global platform for innovation, collaboration and the future of intelligent transport.

Next stop: 32nd ITS World Congress in Gangneung
Alongside growing commercial interest, discussions in Istanbul also strengthened international cooperation between the EMEA World Congress 2027 and this year’s ITS World Congress in Gangneung, Korea.
Representatives from both organising teams continue to co-create the events, including the programme development for Birmingham, which will open its Call for Contributions by the end of October this year.
