How can digital tools help us understand accessibility challenges and design urban spaces that work better for everyone?
On 8 October 2026, the InclusiveSpaces project will host an interactive online session introducing the Comfort-based Accessibility Tool (CAT), a digital platform designed to support more inclusive and accessible urban environments.

CAT brings together different types of information to help users explore how comfortable and accessible walking environments are for different people. Rather than looking at walkability only in terms of distance, time or speed, the tool also considers factors that can shape people’s experience of moving through an urban space, including noise, lighting, crossings, tactile paving, tree shade and other environmental and accessibility features.
During the session, participants will be introduced to the CAT platform and its main features, followed by a practical demonstration of how the tool works and how to explore and apply it. The hands-on format will allow participants to see how different accessibility and comfort factors can be considered when assessing urban environments.
The session is particularly relevant for professionals and organisations working in urban planning, mobility, accessibility, urban design, and community engagement, as well as anyone interested in how digital tools can support more inclusive decision-making.
