The Spanish capital Madrid is using EcoTrafix™ and Mobility Data Platform technology by Kapsch TrafficCom to manage its mobility for the coming years.
The state-of-the-art software replaces the existing solution and offers more flexibility and scalability for future challenges.
As part of an initiative to modernize the city’s mobility management, the city awarded Kapsch TrafficCom in early 2024 to supply a new platform to control the various existing traffic management systems. The agreement also includes the supply of hardware and maintenance of the city’s traffic control center. The project, valued at EUR 5.6 million, represents a decisive step towards more efficient, sustainable and future-proof mobility management in Madrid. An initial version of the platform will be ready in October 2025, with the contract lasting for three years with two one-year extension options.

In addition to the integrated software for managing traffic, Kapsch TrafficCom also delivered its EcoTrafix™ technology to manage more than 1,000 intersections in the eastern area of Madrid.
The project is particularly noteworthy as it is the first of its kind in Europe to use EcoTrafix™ as an integrated platform for managing multi-supplier systems.
