ERTICO is pleased to announce that MOST (Italian National Centre for Sustainable Mobility) has joined its Partnership.
MOST is the National Center for Sustainable Mobility born in 2022 as part of the Italian government’s policies for Next Generation EU with the aim of contributing to the creation of demand and supply for sustainable mobility.
The MOST Foundation, based in Milan, is composed of 24 Universities and 24 large companies in the sector as well as the CNR – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche: a wide-ranging network of partners spread throughout the country to contribute, through unprecedented synergies between the public and private sectors, to a new mobility paradigm dedicated to sustainability, safety and technological innovation.
MOST activities are organised according to five thematic objectives and 14 research areas involving the main carriers and innovative technologies in the sector. Some of the focus include, for example, the implementation of autonomous driving, electric motors for boating, solar-powered cars and research into alternative fuels. Alongside the development of these projects, the Centre has also set up four observatories to create an accessible information and database that helps institutions and operators in the sector to navigate their strategic decisions.
MOST’s mission aligns with Italy’s goals for decarbonisation and decongestion, aiming to create a greener and more connected mobility system.
According to Gianmarco Montanari, General Director of MOST:
This partnership is going to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in mobility-related fields providing vital support to Italian cities during their transition towards more sustainable and innovative transportation solutions. This collaborative framework is designed not only to address current mobility challenges but also to anticipate future needs: utilizing the potential of cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices, and digital solutions, the transformation of the mobility landscape is getting closer and closer.
The ERTICO Partnership bridges the gaps between stakeholders across the ITS community to help make mobility safer, more efficient and sustainable. Together, we lead the digital transformation of transport through the development of cutting-edge technologies, new services and innovative mobility solutions to move people and goods in smarter ways. Our Partners share the joint mission to actively promote sustainable collaborative relations with EU institutions and policymakers by connecting local and regional transport organisations with national authorities.
By joining ERTICO, MOST aims to strengthen its role in the international debate, promote its scientific activity, and facilitate transnational networking and cooperation by encouraging its partners to participate in shared research projects, which can also be supported through participation in EU calls for proposals.
Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe, commented:
I am happy to welcome MOST to the ERTICO Partnership. Their strong commitment to research, innovation, and collaboration across public and private sectors aligns perfectly with our mission to drive smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility in Europe. MOST’s work strengthens our community of innovators and reflects the collaborative spirit that defines ERTICO.
Joining the ERTICO Partnership is an important way to connect the dots between different sectors across our complex ecosystem. The Partnership enables close collaboration between stakeholders by coordinating the planning and deployment of intelligent transport systems and smart mobility solutions in Europe and beyond.
