Túnels de Vallvidrera, a subsidiary of Abertis Autopistas, has just launched a Digital Twin of the Vallvidrera tunnel. This virtual replica enables realistic road simulations to enhance and streamline operational processes. By accurately reflecting real-world measurements, the digital twin provides a reliable foundation for testing and improving road management strategies.
Together with Yunex Traffic, a global leader in the field of intelligent traffic systems, and promoted by Autopistas, this project marks a pioneering initiative in Spain – driven by the company’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to advance safer, more sustainable and more connected mobility.
The digital twin is created from a Building Information Model (BIM – a collaborative working methodology including 3d modeling used in the architecture, engineering and construction industry). This BIM model has been generated by a dynamic scan of the entire geometry of the tunnel and its installations.
The digital twin makes it possible to virtually reproduce different drive-through scenarios and simulate potentian design changes in order to analyze them and then provide efficient solutions in the real environment.
With its innovative technology, the Vallvidrera Tunnel digital twin marks a major leap toward intelligent infrastructure and next-generation traffic management.
