At the ITS European Congress Istanbul 2026, ERTICO – ITS Europe will present the latest progress of the Enhancing Automated Valet Parking Platform (EAVP), underlining how the initiative is advancing from framework development to practical deployment. Building on the finalisation of APDS Version 5, EAVP is helping to create the conditions for automated valet parking to be introduced in a way that is interoperable, scalable, and aligned with the needs of cities, operators, and road users.
All current mobility considers drivers making trips using individual vehicles, yet parking remains a significant challenge across the mobility ecosystem. It affects traffic flow, emissions, urban space, and the overall travel experience. At the same time, it offers clear potential for improvement through better coordination between vehicles, parking infrastructure, and traffic management systems. EAVP responds to this opportunity by supporting a connected parking journey in which users can be guided to the appropriate facility, benefit from reserved and digitally managed parking, and, in more advanced scenarios, use automated parking and vehicle retrieval functions.
Coordinated by ERTICO, EAVP brings together stakeholders across the parking, mobility, and automotive chain to support the deployment of automated valet parking at scale. The platform provides a collaborative framework to align technical development, operational needs, and standardisation efforts, with a focus on practical implementation and market readiness. The EAVP approach is structured around three complementary pillars: standardised parking data through APDS v5, connected parking and traffic circulation planning, and indoor guidance within the parking facility.
Together, these elements help cities guide vehicles more efficiently, enable operators to manage parking and related services more effectively, and improve the user experience through greater certainty, convenience, and integration. Our activities now under preparation include our proof of concept in Salzburg in late 2026 and further city-scale ambitions for 2027.

AT SIS 16: Automated VehicleParking (AVP) as the key for sustainable parking management
Safety and resilience through intelligent systems
ÇAMLICA | 28/04 | 09:00 - 10:00
The ERTICO Enhancing Automated Vehicle Parking (EAVP) platform is driving the transformation of urban mobility by integrating automated vehicle parking, EV charging, and modern parking operations into a seamless user experience. Bringing together experts from OEMs, parking operators, and technology providers, EAVP aims to create a fully interoperable system that supports Level 2 to Level 4 automation while enabling value-added services. By leveraging advanced AI technologies, automated parking systems enhance efficiency, safety, and convenience, reducing human error and time spent searching for parking. Integration with EV charging infrastructure allows users to access charging seamlessly, addressing the growing demand for accessible, sustainable urban mobility. The implementation of the APDS v5 protocol ensures standardized communication between parking, charging, and vehicle systems, creating a consistent, user-friendly experience across multiple locations and service providers. EAVP also proposes a scalable EU-wide platform, utilizing European Mobility Data Space (EMDS) technologies and indoor mapping standards, to support smart, connected cities. Beyond operational benefits, the platform fosters continuous innovation, enabling new revenue streams for operators and efficiency gains for OEMs. By treating parking and charging infrastructure as intelligent, user-centric components, EAVP enhances daily mobility, supports sustainability goals, and delivers practical, deployable solutions that improve urban transport for citizens and the broader mobility ecosystem
