ERTICO – ITS Europe will participate in the Transport Technology Forum (TTF) Autumn Update 2026 on 17 November in Birmingham, contributing insights into the upcoming ITS World Congress 2027 and European transport policy developments.
Taking place at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the one-day event will bring together representatives from national and local government, industry and academia to exchange knowledge, discuss transport policy and explore innovative technologies supporting smarter and more efficient transport services.
Looking Ahead to ITS World Congress 2027
The programme will feature two sessions dedicated to the 33rd ITS World Congress, organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe and taking place in Birmingham from 25–29 October 2027.
The session Journey to ITS World Congress 2027 (12:25–12:40), featuring Jo Britton, Paul Hutton and Jo Field OBE, will look ahead to the global event and the opportunities it will bring to the international ITS community.
This will be followed by World Congress Chief Rapporteur, Professor Eric Sampson CBE, who will share practical guidance on preparing compelling submissions for inclusion in the Congress programme (12:40–13:00). He will explain what assessors are looking for, including the difference between submitting a research or technical paper, format and writing style, and how to avoid commercialism and ensure correct referencing of the submission document.
As Prof Sampson says:
It’s a unique opportunity not just to share your work with a global audience but to learn firsthand what your peer groups are planning and doing. I urge junior and senior authors to respond to the Call for Contributions.
European Transport Policy Updates
Agne Vaitekenaite, Head of Advocacy and Partnership at ERTICO, will deliver a presentation on ERTICO and EU Policy Updates (14:30–14:40), providing perspectives on European transport policy developments and their relevance to the wider Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) community.
Through its participation, ERTICO will contribute to the exchange of European and UK perspectives on transport innovation, policy and collaboration, while encouraging engagement with the international ITS community ahead of Birmingham 2027.
