DFRS highlights road safety achievements in newly released

Data for Road Safety (DFRS) releases the latest version of its Impact Report, a living document launched in 2025 to collect the real-world impact of its Safety-Related Traffic Information (SRTI) ecosystem, advancements in its public-private, cross-border collaboration and external agreements with major associations to making roads safer.

The report is a valuable tool to reflect on the many milestones reached, as well as a solid reference to continue expanding to accomplish the targets of Vision Zero.

What´s new

Over the past year, DFRS has reached outstanding levels of maturity in data exchange with new members coming on board, and it has become a central piece in the mobility data ecosystem, with key collaborations like MDS. As of this year, DFRS is also officially included in the Euro NCAP Safe Driving / Vehicle Assistance Protocol 2026.

With 479.8 million messages exchanged between June 2025 and June 2026, the figures collected in the report illustrate the growing reach and activity of the ecosystem. The report also highlights specific, measurable outcomes from DFRS members, from national road authorities to service providers. These examples demonstrate how DFRS data is driving progress at different levels, from business transformation and evaluation to operational deployment, new services and improved data-driven decision-making.

Together, towards safer roads

Data for Road Safety (DFRS) was created as a direct response to the European Commission´s SRTI Regulation, which mandates the free-of-charge delivery of data linked to a set of critical road events to end users. Since its inception in 2017, the DFRS platform has taken on the mission to unite public authorities, vehicle manufacturers and mobility data providers in a single, trusted ecosystem enabling real-time exchange of SRTI. Since then, trusted cooperation within its expanding community has elevated DFRS. The Impact Report is proof that the ecosystem works successfully. The path ahead is to continue welcoming new members into the community, aggregating more data and refining the ecosystem with broader hazard categories to consistently reduce road casualties.
