How can CCAM projects establish robust evaluation plans, assess their impacts consistently and generate reliable evidence to support decision-making? The European Common Evaluation Methodology for Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (EU-CEM) provides a structured approach to addressing these challenges.
As coordinator of the Horizon Europe CCAMbassador project, ERTICO – ITS Europe is pleased to announce a series of four webinars dedicated to the practical application of EU-CEM. Taking place in November 2026, the sessions will explore how the methodology can support evaluations across different project contexts and impact areas.
The EU-CEM Handbook provides guidelines and best practices for planning and conducting evaluations of CCAM systems. It addresses four evaluation levels: vehicle, human, transport system and society, covering a broad range of technical, operational, environmental and societal impacts.
By supporting the development of feasible evaluation plans and the systematic assessment of impacts, EU-CEM aims to improve the quality and usefulness of evaluation results for both public- and private-sector decision-making.
The webinar series is intended for researchers, project coordinators, evaluation professionals and other stakeholders involved in CCAM projects, including both new and experienced EU-CEM users.
Four webinars exploring the practical application of EU-CEM
1. Introduction to applying EU-CEM in small and large CCAM projects
19 November 2026 | 09:00–10:00 CET
The opening webinar will introduce the application of EU-CEM in CCAM projects of different sizes. Participants will learn how to establish the foundations for a successful evaluation during project preparation and develop a feasible evaluation plan. The session will also address the specific challenges of larger projects and identify steps that may be simplified in smaller initiatives.
Speakers
- Satu Innamaa, Principal Scientist, VTT
- Henri Sintonen, Research Scientist, VTT

2. Applying EU-CEM to public transport and logistics use cases
20 November 2026 | 09:00–10:00 CET
This session will demonstrate how EU-CEM can be applied to public transport and logistics through practical examples. It will address key considerations for developing evaluation plans and selecting relevant impacts to assess in these use cases.
Speakers
- Lone-Eirin Lervåg, Head of Innovation and Knowledge Development, ITS Norway
- Anna Anund, VTI

3. A deep dive into sustainability and equity impacts
26 November 2026 | 09:00–10:00 CET
Sustainability and equity are important dimensions of the wider impacts of CCAM. This webinar will examine these two impact areas, explaining their relevance to CCAM evaluation and exploring how they can be assessed using the EU-CEM framework.
Speakers
- Isabel Wilmink, Senior Scientist, TNO
- Gabriela Gamarra Scavone, Consultant and Project Manager, Mobility & Built Environment, TNO

4. Understanding cascading impacts and impact pathways
27 November 2026 | 09:00–10:00 CET
The final webinar will focus on cascading impacts and impact pathways, exploring how the introduction of CCAM systems can lead to effects beyond their immediate application. Participants will gain an introduction to identifying these wider impacts and defining impact pathways as part of a structured evaluation.
Speaker
- Esko Lehtonen, Senior Scientist, VTT

Supporting robust and meaningful CCAM evaluation
Through this webinar series, CCAMbassador aims to support the wider understanding and practical application of EU-CEM across the CCAM community. By sharing guidance and examples, the sessions will help stakeholders approach evaluation in a structured and realistic way, strengthening the evidence base for future CCAM development and deployment.
Participants are invited to register for the individual sessions and share the opportunity with colleagues and professional networks.
The webinar series is organised within the Horizon Europe-funded CCAMbassador project.
