Co-exhibitors showcases innovation at the UK – ERTICO European Pavilion in Korea

Leading intelligent transport organisations from across Europe and the UK will come together at the ITS World Congress 2026 in Gangneung, South Korea, from 19–23 October, showcasing expertise from across the mobility ecosystem and creating new opportunities for international exchange and collaboration.

At the Birmingham 2027 | UK & ERTICO - ITS European Pavilion, organisations working across connected and automated mobility, intelligent transport infrastructure, transport planning, data and digital mobility will present their expertise to the global community.

Delivered through collaboration between the organisers behind the next EMEA World Congress, ERTICO – ITS Europe, Transport for West Midlands, and the Department for Transport and LGRIG on behalf of the UK Government, the Pavilion will create a bridge between this year’s World Congress in Korea and the next edition in Birmingham, UK in 2027.

Bringing expertise together in Korea

On the European Pavilion side, CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium, representatives from Ireland’s Department for Transport, TamData and ERTICO Partner AUMOVIO will come together alongside the ITS South Africa Conference.

“The range of organisations represented will make the Pavilion more than a shared exhibition space,” comments Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe. “It will bring together companies, membership bodies and international partners working on some of transport’s most pressing challenges, from improving road safety and network efficiency to connecting vehicles and infrastructure and making better use of transport data.”

The UK side will welcome Zenzic, AGD, Podaris and Q-Free, highlighting expertise spanning connected and automated mobility, intelligent transport infrastructure, transport planning and digital mobility solutions.

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group, LCRIG, is supporting the UK presence in Korea. Its Managing Director, Kerry Winstanley, said: “The ITS World Congress is where the international transport community comes together to exchange ideas, find partners and discover solutions that can make a genuine difference to people’s journeys.”

She added: “LCRIG is also working alongside Transport for West Midlands to lead the UK preparations for the World Congress in 2027. Everyone participating in the Pavilion will help us invite the world to the UK and show why the Congress will be an event that businesses, governments, local authorities and transport professionals cannot afford to miss.”

Together, the organisations will make the Pavilion a focal point for participants to discover complementary technologies and expertise, meet the people behind them and explore how different approaches can support transport systems across cities, regions and national networks.

For visitors, it will offer an opportunity to see complementary technologies and expertise in one place, meet the people behind them and explore how different solutions could be applied across cities, regions and national transport networks. For the participating organisations, it will provide a platform to forge partnerships, reach new markets and help shape the international conversation about the future of mobility.

Building the bridge to Birmingham 2027

The Pavilion will also provide a major showcase for the next ITS World Congress, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 25–29 October 2027.

Throughout the week in Gangneung, the organiser and host teams will meet with the international ITS community and share the different ways businesses, public authorities, researchers and innovators can be part of the next EMEA World Congress, from exhibiting and partnership opportunities to contributing to the programme, demonstrating technologies and attending.

“Birmingham 2027 will bring the ITS World Congress back to the UK for the first time since London hosted it in 2006,” said Jo Field OBE, Silver Commander for the Hosts’ planning of the event. “Its location at the heart of the country will enable the international ITS community to experience the West Midlands’ transport innovation first-hand while discussing how technology can create safer, cleaner, more efficient and more accessible journeys around the world.”

The presence of all co-exhibiting organisations in Gangneung will complement the wider European and international expertise represented on the Pavilion, while offering a first glimpse of the technologies, ideas and partnerships that will come together in the EMEA region of next year.

The Pavilion builds on a model used at previous ITS World and European Congresses, creating a coordinated presence through which organisations can increase their international visibility, make valuable connections and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

The ITS World Congress 2026 takes place in Gangneung, South Korea, from 19–23 October 2026.

The 33rd ITS World Congress will take place at Birmingham’s NEC from 25–29 October 2027, organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe, in collaboration with the European Commission, co-organised by ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific. The Congress is hosted by Transport for West Midlands, West Midlands Combined Authority, and the UK Government, supported by LCRIG and ITS UK.
