ERTICO will participate in Highways UK 2026, taking place on 14 and 15 October at the NEC Birmingham, bringing together more than 10,000 professionals from across the highways and transport supply chain.
This year’s event will provide an important opportunity for ERTICO to connect with the UK transport community and continue preparations for the 33rd ITS World Congress, which will take place at the NEC Birmingham from 25 to 29 October 2027 under the theme “Connect Ideas. Transform Transport.”
The 2027 Congress will bring together global mobility leaders, policymakers, industry innovators and researchers to explore the technologies, policies and real-world deployments shaping the future of intelligent transport. ERTICO, as organiser of the EMEA ITS World Congresses, is working closely with the UK host region to build a Congress that connects international expertise with the innovation taking place across Birmingham, the West Midlands and the wider UK.
The Congress is hosted by Transport for West Midlands and the West Midlands Combined Authority, co-organised with ITS America and ITS Asia Pacific, and held in collaboration with the European Commission. It is supported by the UK Department for Transport, Department for Business and Trade, Transport Technology Forum, Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, ITS UK and VisitBritain.
Connecting the highways and ITS communities
The connection between Highways UK and the ITS World Congress will become even more visible in 2027, when the two events will be co-located at the NEC Birmingham in adjoining exhibition halls. The venue will bring together the international ITS and mobility community with the UK highways infrastructure, operations and procurement community, while allowing both events to retain their distinct focus.
ERTICO’s presence at Highways UK 2026 therefore offers an opportunity to meet organisations interested in contributing to the 2027 Congress, from technology providers and infrastructure specialists to public authorities, researchers and other stakeholders across the transport ecosystem.
With the Congress programme taking shape around Trustworthy and Resilient Systems, Next Generation ITS, Connected and Integrated Services, and Deploying ITS at Scale, Birmingham 2027 will provide a platform to share practical experience, demonstrate innovation and explore how intelligent transport solutions can move from ideas to real-world deployment.
ERTICO looks forward to meeting the Highways UK community in Birmingham, exchanging perspectives on the future of transport and building new connections ahead of the ITS World Congress 2027.
