ERTICO will contribute to the ESA NAVISP Industry Days 2026, taking place on 14 and 15 October at the Aula Magna of Università La Sapienza in Rome, Italy. Under this year’s theme, “Between Science and Art”, the event will bring together stakeholders from across the Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) ecosystem to explore emerging technologies, applications and opportunities for collaboration.
On 15 October at 09:20, Vassilis Agouridas, ERTICO, will moderate the panel “Challenges of Scaling-Up Drone Applications”, organised in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).
The panel will bring together perspectives from research, public authorities, ports and air navigation, with Heidi Kuusniemi from Tampere University, Alejandro Suarez Rodriguez from the Directorate General for Traffic Spain, Karen van Brussel from Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and Alberto Lovino from ENAV.
As drone applications move from individual use cases towards larger-scale deployment, questions around positioning, navigation, safety, regulation, infrastructure and integration with existing transport systems become increasingly important. The panel will explore these challenges and discuss what is needed to move from promising applications to scalable and operational drone services.
The discussion forms part of the second day of NAVISP Industry Days, which will focus on unmanned operations, eLoran and other complementary PNT technologies, and Indoor PNT. The first day will explore topics including resilient PNT, PNT for ports and underwater applications.
Beyond the expert panels, the two-day programme will feature industry pitches, B2B sessions connecting academia, industry and NAVISP representatives, and a dedicated event for young professionals, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and new partnerships across the PNT community.
For ERTICO, the event provides an opportunity to strengthen the connection between PNT, drones and intelligent transport systems, and to explore how reliable positioning and navigation technologies can support the safe and scalable deployment of new mobility applications.
NAVISP Industry Days 2026 is free to attend, with registration required and places limited.
